These two artists worked together since 2005 taking images of "The Ruins of Detroit". These are some of the most beautiful images I have ever seen! Here is Yves Marchand & Romain Meffre's website.
"Ruins are the visible symbols and landmarks of our societies and their changes, small pieces of history in suspension. The state of ruin is essentially a temporary situation that happens at some point, the volatile result of change of era and the fall of empires. This fragility, the time elapsed but even so running fast, lead us to watch them one very last time : being dismayed, or admire, making us wondering about the permanence of things. Photography appeared to us as a modest way to keep a little bit of this ephemeral state." Magda Nikx Wasiczek has these amazing photographs that look so amazing that they have to be photoshoped, but they are not. Just beautiful photograhps. Here is her real site in Polish
Dolan Geiman is now my new favorite artist. His constructions are so simple yet soo refined. I love his use of recycled materials and fun spirit. Once originaly from Virginia, he now lives in Chicago, no wonder I love his style: country with modern appeal. Most of his work is made from recycled wood, paper, and paint. I love the way he used old paint sticks in his circular piece.
What a great name Jonathan Mess is. I found this artist not too long ago, and he is now a new favorite! I love his comparisons of clay to the earth, using recycled materials to do so. I find his wall tiles the most inspiring, where he utilizes cardboard to create his work. I have always been a fan of cardboard! His website is great, with lots of pictures and statements. Jonathan Mess has even spent two months on a commission for a Mill, those pictures are great as well. I also love his squares, which I show last, I think it is a great idea for a class assignment. These are cardboard, clay, and glaze stains, which make up his wall tiles. These are his "Landfills" which are masses of clay and glaze, all layered together and fired! Wouldn't these make such great class assignments? These are mixed media too! His "soilders" are a little disturbing, but I still love them just the same. I am not sure exactly what all of them are made from, but if I had to guess, I'd say water bottles.
I love Kathlyeen Royster Lamb's conbinations of organic sculptural art, with functional everyday pieces. Of course her work is not functional, and she created these everyday pieces to be not so everyday, but the concept is what I like the most. I would love to have a china set that looks just like this! The best site I could find with the best images was her flicker which looks like she doesn't update often, if anyone finds a better site let me know.
I love artist Andy Rogers! I love the organic compostions which are inspied by beautiful sea creatures. The glazes are awesome, and his wall pieces are beyond beautiful. Go to his site to see all his wonderful creations.
Ann E. Coulter has beautiful large pastel drawings. These pieces are about 32"X32" and larger! They make me want to start painting and drawing from photos again. Nature too, my favorite. Her work is so delicate but yet I feel empowered looking at them.
Kareena Zerefos's work is so beautiful. I love the empty spaces and areas of minimal rendering. Really like the light use of watercolor allowing the pencil and drawing to show through
Linda Cordell is a ceramic artist whose work has is about the careless treatment towards nature that I as well express in my work. Love the whiteness of the work, and especially in the lamb contrasted with the darker legs.
Joe Wilson is a fantastic artist with very detailed screenprints and etchings. I love his vision and message he is creating in his art.
